The Beach Boys are one of the premiere rock vocal groups in history, and their music has had a lasting impact on American pop culture. Formed by brothers Brian Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Carl Wilson as well as cousin Mike Love and schoolmate Alan Jardine in 1961- they combined rootsy Chuck Berry R&B with The Four Freshman's intricate harmonies to create something new.

They crafted a series of hit singles equal to anything produced by their contemporaries before evolving away from surf music quickly under creative leadership from songwriter and producer Brian Wilson who is credited as being one of America’s greatest ever pop composers.
